Assignment #4 Motion
For this assignment we were to change the shutter speed on our cameras to capture the same type of motion two different ways. On my particular camera I was able to manually set the shutter speed, while the aperture would set automatically. The day I took the pictures it happened to be raining, and I decided to use the rainwater as my subject. I found a place where it flowed down the wall and proceeded to take the motion shots with my camera set witha fast shutter speed. That went easily, and I took a couple of different shots from different angles. But when I went to use my camera with a slower shutter speed I could not hold the camera still long enough for it to take the shot. Eventually I used a tripod that the camera would sit on to avoid the camera shake.
This shot was taken with a much slower shutter speed of about 1.6 seconds, with an aperture of f8. The water this time, had more time to move while the shutter was open longer, causing a blur.
This photo was taken with a shutter speed of 1/2000 and an aperture of f2.8. This froze the water in mid air while still keeping the image sharp because the water could not move very much in the short time that the shutter opened and closed.
