of the lid off the first can with the can opener supplied.
- Now cut the second can in
half with a pair of scissers.
WARNING: be very careful not
to cut your hand.
WARNING: Again, be very careful
not to cut your hand.

WARNING: Again, be very careful
not to cut your hand
- I cut my hand.
- Tape the bottom of the lid
so there is no shiny part showing.
- Tape the top of the lid.
- You should now have a lid
and an empty can.
- They go together like peanut
butter and jam.
THE CAN:
- Have to make it black in
that can. Spray paint the inside and let dry or tape black construction paper
to the inside. If you don't have spray paint you may tape black construction
paper to the inside of the can so that no shiny metal is showing.
THE HOLE:
- The most important step.
Drill a hole with the pin. make sure to keep the pin straight. While applying
pressure, turn the pin back and forth until you puncute the can. You should
drill near the center of the can.
- Sand down the rough edges
of the hole and re-insert the pin and turn gentle until the hole is clean.
THE SHUTTER:
- The shutter. Cut a piece
of tape about 10 cm (3 inches) long. fold 2 cm of the end onto itself.
- Cut a small piece of tape
(1 cm, 1/2 inch).
- Tape it onto the middle of
the first strip (sticky to sticky side). This will protect the pinhole from
getting gummed-up.
- Tape the shutter over the
hole so the non-sticky part is over the hole. You should be able to pull it
off and on easily by grabbing the end that was taped over itself.
LOADING:
- DO THIS STEP IN TOTAL DARKNESS.
Take a sheet of film out of the box in total darkness
- IMPORTANT: there are notches
on one side of the film that you can feel. The emulsion side of the film (side
that is sensitive to light) is facing you when the notches are on top, to
the right. See film box for intstructtions.
- DO THIS STEP IN TOTAL DARKNESS.
Slide the film into the can so it is on the opposite side of the hole. Make
sure the emulsion side is facing the hole.
